TITLE: CUBESAT: Networks for Space Weather Research

TIME/LOCATION:
Monday, March 9, 1:00PM-1:20PM
Location: International Ballroom IV-V

DESCRIPTION:
An approach for Space Weather research using the Cal Poly/Stanford CUBESAT satellite standard is presented by NASA Florida Space Grant Consortium (FSGC)-funded researchers at Florida International University (FIU) and then a working design is described. The group's approach samples space variables and anomalies, conducts real time analysis of space weather impacts on the earth, down links to a server at FIU, and disseminates the information to the public. By shrinking space weather research to a 10cm3 satellite and automating real time experiments, FIU researchers have created a scalable, cost effective platform for networked space weather research.
